﴿فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم مُّوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالُواْ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّفۡتَرٗى وَمَا سَمِعۡنَا بِهَٰذَا فِيٓ ءَابَآئِنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ﴾
[القَصَص: 36]
﴿فلما جاءهم موسى بآياتنا بينات قالوا ما هذا إلا سحر مفترى وما﴾ [القَصَص: 36]
| Dr Kamal Omar So when Musa came to them with Ayaatina Bayyinatin (‘Our Manifest Signs’), they said: “This is not but forged magic; and we did not hear about this (type of counsellings and admonitions) among our initial fathers.” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Then, when Moses drew near them with Our signs, clear portents, they said: This is nothing but forged sorcery. We heard not of this from our fathers, the ancient ones |
| Dr Munir Munshey But when Musa brought to them Our clear signs, they said, "This is only a trumped up magic. Such things were never heard of during the times of our forefathers |

| George Sale And when Moses came unto them with our evident signs, they said, this is no other than a deceitful piece of sorcery: Neither have we heard of any thing like this among our fore-fathers |
| Maududi But when Moses came to them with Our Clear Signs, they said: "This is nothing but a magic that has been contrived. We never heard anything like it from our ancestors of yore |
