﴿وَٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا فَعَلُواْ فَٰحِشَةً أَوۡ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمۡ ذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ فَٱسۡتَغۡفَرُواْ لِذُنُوبِهِمۡ وَمَن يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ وَلَمۡ يُصِرُّواْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلُواْ وَهُمۡ يَعۡلَمُونَ ﴾
[آل عِمران: 135]
﴿والذين إذا فعلوا فاحشة أو ظلموا أنفسهم ذكروا الله فاستغفروا لذنوبهم ومن﴾ [آل عِمران: 135]
| Dr Kamal Omar and those who, when they committed lewdness or wronged their own souls, became mindful of Allah and invoked forgiveness for their sins; and who forgives sins except Allah? And do not insist on what they have done once they come to know (the sinfullness of the act) |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And those who, when they committed an indecency or did wrong to themselves, they remembered God. Then, they asked for forgiveness for their impieties. And who forgives impieties but God? And persist not in what impiety they committed while they know |
| Dr Munir Munshey Those who, if they ever (falter and fail, and) err into a base and indecent act, _ and thus wrong their own souls _ remember Allah (soon afterwards) and entreat Allah for forgiveness of their sins. | Maududi These are the ones who, when they commit any indecency and wrong against themselves, instantly remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins - for who will forgive sins save Allah? - and who do not wilfully persist in the wrong they did |
