﴿قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا تَطَيَّرۡنَا بِكُمۡۖ لَئِن لَّمۡ تَنتَهُواْ لَنَرۡجُمَنَّكُمۡ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ ﴾
[يسٓ: 18]
﴿قالوا إنا تطيرنا بكم لئن لم تنتهوا لنرجمنكم وليمسنكم منا عذاب أليم﴾ [يسٓ: 18]
| Dr Kamal Omar They (the people) said: “Surely, we have become caught in an evil omen because of you. Surely, if you do not desist (from propagating Al-Kitab), we will surely (reject and) drive you out, and indeed a painful punishment will touch you from us.” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar They said: Truly, we augured ill of you. If you refrain not yourselves, we will, certainly, stone you. Certainly, a painful punishment will afflict you from us |
| Dr Munir Munshey They said, "We have really been jinxed by your presence. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you to death! You will receive a grievous torture from us |
| Edward Henry Palmer They said, 'Verily, we have augured concerning you, and if ye do not desist we will surely stone you, and there shall touch you from us a grievous woe |
