﴿ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱتَّبَعُواْ مَآ أَسۡخَطَ ٱللَّهَ وَكَرِهُواْ رِضۡوَٰنَهُۥ فَأَحۡبَطَ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ ﴾
[مُحمد: 28]
﴿ذلك بأنهم اتبعوا ما أسخط الله وكرهوا رضوانه فأحبط أعمالهم﴾ [مُحمد: 28]
Dr Kamal Omar That is because they followed which angered Allah, and they disliked His pleasure and assents. So He made their deeds go waste |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar That is because they followed what displeased God and they disliked His contentment so He caused their actions to fail |
Dr Munir Munshey Their good deeds lost their worth, because they followed that which displeases Allah, and because they dislike seeking the pleasure of Allah |
Edward Henry Palmer This is because they follow what angers God and are averse from His goodwill; and their works are void |
Farook Malik That will happen because they followed the way that called for the wrath of Allah and hated to adopt the way of His pleasure, therefore He made all their deeds void |
George Sale This shall they suffer, because they follow that which provoketh God to wrath, and are averse to what is well pleasing unto Him: And He will render their works vain |
Maududi That is because they have followed a way that angered Allah, and have been averse to His good pleasure. So He reduced all their works to nought |
