﴿سَيَقُولُ لَكَ ٱلۡمُخَلَّفُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡأَعۡرَابِ شَغَلَتۡنَآ أَمۡوَٰلُنَا وَأَهۡلُونَا فَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَنَاۚ يَقُولُونَ بِأَلۡسِنَتِهِم مَّا لَيۡسَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمۡۚ قُلۡ فَمَن يَمۡلِكُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيۡـًٔا إِنۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ ضَرًّا أَوۡ أَرَادَ بِكُمۡ نَفۡعَۢاۚ بَلۡ كَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ خَبِيرَۢا ﴾
[الفَتح: 11]
﴿سيقول لك المخلفون من الأعراب شغلتنا أموالنا وأهلونا فاستغفر لنا يقولون بألسنتهم﴾ [الفَتح: 11]
Dr Kamal Omar Soon will say unto you those who lagged behind out of the bedouins: “Our possessions kept us involved; so ask forgiveness for us.” They utter with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say: “Who then will have any power at all (to intervene) on your behalf with Allah, if He intended you (any) harm or He intended you (any) benefit? Nay, Allah is All-Aware of what you do |
Edward Henry Palmer The desert Arabs who were left behind shall say, 'Our wealth and our people occupied us; ask pardon then for us!' - they speak with their tongues what is not in their hearts! Say, 'Who can control for you aught from God, if He wish you harm or wish you advantage?' Nay, God of what ye do is well aware |

They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Tell them: "Who can intervene on your behalf with Allah if it be His will to do you harm or He pleases to do you good? Allah is well aware of your actions |
Maududi (O Prophet), the bedouins who were left behind say to you: "We were occupied with our goods and families. So ask forgiveness for us." They say with their tongues what is not in their hearts. Say to them: "Who can be of any avail to you against Allah if He should intend to cause you any harm or confer upon you any benefit?" Allah is well aware of all that you do |
