Those who avoid major sins and do not commit themselves to an evil line of conduct, but occasionally fall into mistakes, faults or errors may find Allah Ghafrun (Forgiving),and Rahimun (Merciful); He knows well your nature, your character, and condition of mind besides your disposition and your temperament; for it is He Who brought you into being from the earth, then He embedded you in your mothers' wombs; therefore justify not yourselves before him; He knows best those whose hearts are impressed with the image of virtues and whose deeds with wisdom and piety

Dr Kamal Omar
those who abstain from serious types of Al-Ism (the sins) and Al-Fawahish (the obscenes) except the small faults (which could be overlooked): verily, your Nourisher-Sustainer is Most Vast regarding forgiveness. He knows more of you when He initiated you from within the earth; and when you (remain) hidden and unrecognisable ones (i.e., as foetuses and embryos) within the bellies of your mothers. So ascribe not purity to yourselves. He knows better that (person) who has remained obedient
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar
those who avoid the major sins and the indecencies but the lesser offenses. Truly, thy Lord is One Who is Extensive in forgiveness. He is greater in knowledge of you when He caused you to grow from the earth and when you were an unborn child in the wombs of your mothers. So you make not pure yourselves. He is greater in knowledge of him who was Godfearing
Dr Munir Munshey
If those who steer clear of the grave sins and the shameful vile deeds stumble and err, (let them remember that) Allah abounds in forgiveness. He knows you so well, ever since He created you and established you on earth, ever since you were but a germ in your mother´s belly. Therefore, do not profess purity and piety for yourself. Allah knows better the one who is pious
Edward Henry Palmer
those who shun great sins and iniquities,- all but venial faults,- verily, thy Lord is of ample forgiveness; He knows best about you, when He produced you from the earth, and when ye were embryos in the wombs of your mothers. Make not yourselves out, then, to be pure; He knows best who it is that fears
Farook Malik
To those who avoid the major sins and shameful deeds and are guilty of only small offense, surely for them your Lord will have abundant forgiveness. He knew you well when He created you from earth and when you were just embryos in your mother’s wombs, therefore, do not claim piety for yourselves. He knows best who is really Godfearing pious
George Sale
As to those who avoid great crimes, and hainous sins, and are guilty only of lighter faults; verily thy Lord will be extensive in mercy towards them. He well knew you when He produced you out of the earth, and when ye were embryo's in your mothers' wombs: Wherefore justify not your selves: He best knoweth the man who feareth Him
Maududi
on those who avoid grave sins and shameful deeds, even if they may sometimes stumble into lesser offences. Surely your Lord is abounding in His Forgiveness. Very well is He aware of you since He produced you from the earth, and while you were still in your mothers´ wombs and not yet born. So do not boastfully claim yourselves to be purified. He fully knows those that are truly Godfearing
