Dr Kamal Omar So that Ahl-ul-Kitab [(mere) possessors of Al-Kitab] may not think that they (the Muslims who have developed Belief,) have no capability over any thing out of the Bounty of Allah. And that the Bounty is in the hand of Allah — He will bestow it on whom He will think proper. And Allah is the Possessor of the Great Bounty |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Certainly, the People of the Book know that they have no power over anything of the grace of God and that the grace of God is in the hand of God. He gives it to whomever He wills. And God is Possessor of the Sublime Grace |
Dr Munir Munshey So the people of the book may know that they do not have any control (or exclusive right) over (the distribution of) Allah´s bounties. In fact, the bounties rest in the hands of Allah, and He confers them upon whomever He wishes. Allah is the Lord of the highest honor |
Edward Henry Palmer That the people of the Book may know that they cannot control aught of God's grace; and that grace is in God's hands, He gives it to whom He will; for God is Lord of mighty grace |
Farook Malik You should adopt this way so that the people of the Book may know that they do not have the sole right to the grace of Allah, and that His grace is entirely in His own hands, which He bestows on whomever He wills: and Allah is the Owner of mighty grace |
George Sale That those who have received the scriptures may know that they have not power over any of the favours of God, and that good is in the hand of God; He bestoweth the same on whom He pleaseth, for God is endued with great beneficence |
Maududi (You should do this) so that the People of the Book know that they have no control over Allah´s Bounty, and that all bounty is in Allah´s Hand; He bestows it on whomsoever He pleases. Allah is the Lord of abounding bounty |
