﴿وَمِنۡهُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡذُونَ ٱلنَّبِيَّ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ أُذُنٞۚ قُلۡ أُذُنُ خَيۡرٖ لَّكُمۡ يُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَيُؤۡمِنُ لِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَرَحۡمَةٞ لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمۡۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡذُونَ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ ﴾
[التوبَة: 61]
﴿ومنهم الذين يؤذون النبي ويقولون هو أذن قل أذن خير لكم يؤمن﴾ [التوبَة: 61]
| Dr Kamal Omar And among them are those who hurt the Prophet and they say: “He is (all) ear (to any one who wants to talk to him).” Say: “(His being) an ear (to every one) is better for you. He has Faith in Allah, and he has Faith for the Believers and mercy for those who have Believed out of you.” And those who hurt the Messenger of Allah: for them is a grievous punishment |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar And among them are those who malign the Prophet and say: He is unquestioning. Say: He is unquestioning of what is good for you. He believes in God and believes in ones who believe. And he is a mercy to those of you who believed. And those of you who malign the Messenger of God, for them is a painful punishment |
| Dr Munir Munshey Among them are those who annoy and hurt the prophet by saying, "He is all ears _ (he lends his ears to all)." Say, "For your own good, he is all ears. He believes in Allah and trusts the believers; he is mercy for those of you who believe." There is a painful punishment for those of you who annoy the messenger of Allah |

Say: "It is good for you that he listens to what is best for you; he believes in Allah, has faith in the believers, and is a blessing for those of you who are true believers." As for those who molest the Messenger, will have a painful punishment |
| George Sale There are some of them who injure the prophet, and say, he is an ear: Answer, he is an ear of good unto you; he believeth in God, and giveth credit to the faithful, and is a mercy unto such of you who believe. But they who injure the apostle of God, shall suffer a painful punishment |
| Maududi And of them there are some who distress the Prophet, saying: "He is all ears." Tell them: "He listens for your good. He believes in Allah and trusts the believers, and is a mercy for those of you who believe. A painful punishment lies in store for those who cause distress to the Messenger of Allah |
