﴿قَالُواْ تَٱللَّهِ لَقَدۡ ءَاثَرَكَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡنَا وَإِن كُنَّا لَخَٰطِـِٔينَ ﴾
[يُوسُف: 91]
﴿قالوا تالله لقد آثرك الله علينا وإن كنا لخاطئين﴾ [يُوسُف: 91]
| Mohammad Habib Shakir They said: By Allah! now has Allah certainly chosen you over us, and we were certainly sinners |
| Mohammad Shafi They said, "By Allah! HE has certainly chosen you over us, and we were indeed the sinners |
| Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall They said: By Allah, verily Allah hath preferred thee above us, and we were indeed sinful |
| Mufti Taqi Usmani They said, “We swear by Allah, indeed Allah has given to you preference over us, and we were guilty in fact.” |
| Muhammad Asad [The brothers] said: "By God! Most certainly has God raised thee high above us, and we were indeed but sinners |
| Muhammad Mahmoud Ghali They said, "By Allah! Indeed, Allah has already preferred you above us, and decidedly we were indeed sinners |
| Muhammad Sarwar They said, "We swear by God that He has given preference to you over us and we have sinned |
| Muhammad Taqi Usmani They said, .We swear by Allah, indeed Allah has given to you preference over us, and we were guilty in fact |
| Mustafa Khattab Allah Edition They admitted, “By Allah! Allah has truly preferred you over us, and we have surely been sinful.” |
| Mustafa Khattab God Edition They admitted, “By God! God has truly preferred you over us, and we have surely been sinful.” |
| N J Dawood ‘By the Lord,‘ they said, ‘God has exalted you above us all. We have indeed done wrong.‘ |
