﴿قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ نَنۡهَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ ﴾
[الحِجر: 70]
﴿قالوا أو لم ننهك عن العالمين﴾ [الحِجر: 70]
Abdel Haleem They answered, ‘Have we not told you not to interfere [between us and] anyone else?’ |
Abdul Hye They (people of the city) said: “Did we not forbid you from (entertaining) any of the people?” |
Abdullah Yusuf Ali They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry |
Abdul Majid Daryabadi They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds |
Ahmed Ali Did we not restrain you," they said, "from (entertaining) creatures from the outside world |
Aisha Bewley They said, ´Did we not forbid you to play host to anyone at all?´ |
A. J. Arberry They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings |
Ali Quli Qarai They said, ‘Did we not forbid you from [defending] strangers?’ |
