﴿فَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلۡحُوتِ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكۡظُومٞ ﴾
[القَلَم: 48]
﴿فاصبر لحكم ربك ولا تكن كصاحب الحوت إذ نادى وهو مكظوم﴾ [القَلَم: 48]
Abdel Haleem Wait patiently [Prophet] for your Lord’s judgement: do not be like the man in the whale who called out in distress |
Abdul Hye So wait with patience for the decision of your Lord, and don’t be like the companion of the fish (reference to Prophet Jonah who was swallowed by a fish), who cried out (to Us) while he was in distress |
Abdullah Yusuf Ali So wait with patience for the Command of thy Lord, and be not like the Companion of the Fish,- when he cried out in agony |
Abdul Majid Daryabadi Be patient thou, then, with thy Lord's judgment, and be thou not like him of the fish, when he cried out while he was in anguish |
Ahmed Ali So wait with patience for the judgement of your Lord, and do not be like (onah) of the fish who called (to his Lord) when he was choked with anger |
Aisha Bewley So wait steadfastly for the judgement of your Lord. Do not be like the Companion of the Fish when he called out in absolute despair |
