Dr Kamal Omar Have you not pondered towards (the worhead of state of) your Nourisher-Sustainer how He has extended the shadow? And if He willed, surely He would make it still — then We have made the sun as a cause and effect over it |
Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Hast thou not considered how thy Lord stretched out the shade? If He willed, He would make it a place of rest. Again, We made the sun an indicator over it |
Dr Munir Munshey Do you not see how your Lord spreads out darkness? If He wanted, He could make it permanent! But He appointed the sun as a pilot (to drive away the darkness) |
Edward Henry Palmer Hast thou not looked to thy Lord how He prolongs the shadow? but had He willed He would have made it stationary; then we make the sun a guide thereto |
Farook Malik Have you not seen how your Lord extends a shadow? If He wanted, He could make it constant. Then We made the sun an indication of it |
George Sale Dost thou not consider the works of thy Lord, how He stretcheth forth the shadow before sun-rise? If he had pleased, he would have made it immovable for ever. Then We cause the sun to rise, and to shew the same |
Maududi Have you not seen how your Lord lengthens out the shadow? Had He willed, He would have made it constant, but We have made the sun its pilot |
