﴿قَالَتۡ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡمَلَؤُاْ أَفۡتُونِي فِيٓ أَمۡرِي مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمۡرًا حَتَّىٰ تَشۡهَدُونِ ﴾
[النَّمل: 32]
﴿قالت ياأيها الملأ أفتوني في أمري ما كنت قاطعة أمرا حتى تشهدون﴾ [النَّمل: 32]
| Dr Kamal Omar She said: “O you chiefs! Advise me in (this) case of mine. I am not a lady who takes decision until you are present with me (to give your assent).” |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar She said: O Council! Render me an opinion in my affair. I had not been one who resolves unless you bear witness |
| Dr Munir Munshey The queen said, "Oh my courtiers, give your opinion in this matter before me. I do not conclude any matter unless you are present (and unless I consult you, first) |
| Edward Henry Palmer She said, 'O ye chiefs! pronounce sentence for me in my affair. I never decide an affair until ye testify for me |
| Farook Malik Then she asked: "O chiefs! Let me hear your advice, for I make no decision without your counsel |
| George Sale She said, O nobles, advise me in my business: I will not resolve on any thing, until ye be witnesses and approve thereof |
| Maududi (After reading the letter) the Queen said: "Nobles, let me have your counsel in this matter for I make no firm decision without you |
