﴿فَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُن كَصَاحِبِ ٱلۡحُوتِ إِذۡ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكۡظُومٞ ﴾
[القَلَم: 48]
﴿فاصبر لحكم ربك ولا تكن كصاحب الحوت إذ نادى وهو مكظوم﴾ [القَلَم: 48]
| Dr Kamal Omar So wait with patience for the Decree of your Nourisher-Sustainer, and do not be like the companion of the fish when he cried out to Us while he was in deep sorrow |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar So be thou patient until the determination of thy Lord and be not like the Companion of the Great Fish when he cried out, one who is suppressed by grief |
| Dr Munir Munshey So, wait patiently for your Lord´s decree. Do not act like the man of the fish, (the prophet Jonah), when he called (his Lord), choked with grief |

| George Sale Wherefore patiently wait the judgment of thy Lord: And be not like him who was swallowed by the fish; when he cried unto God, being inwardly vexed |
| Maududi So bear with patience until the Judgement of your Lord comes, and do not belike the man in the fish (i.e., Jonah) who called out, choking with grief |
