﴿وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيۡكُم مِّن سُلۡطَٰنِۭۖ بَلۡ كُنتُمۡ قَوۡمٗا طَٰغِينَ ﴾
[الصَّافَات: 30]
﴿وما كان لنا عليكم من سلطان بل كنتم قوما طاغين﴾ [الصَّافَات: 30]
| Dr Kamal Omar And there was not in us, regarding you, any authority. Nay! You (yourselves) were a nation of disobedient arrogants |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar and we had not been any authority over you. Nay! You had been a folk, ones who are defiant |
| Dr Munir Munshey We had no control over you. You were certainly a defiant people |
| Edward Henry Palmer nor had we any authority over you; nay, ye were an outrageous people |
| Farook Malik We had no power over you, the fact is that you were an inordinate people |
| George Sale For we had no power over you to compel you; but ye were people who voluntarily transgressed |
| Maududi We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people |
