﴿وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَقُولُ ٱئۡذَن لِّي وَلَا تَفۡتِنِّيٓۚ أَلَا فِي ٱلۡفِتۡنَةِ سَقَطُواْۗ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةُۢ بِٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ﴾
[التوبَة: 49]
﴿ومنهم من يقول ائذن لي ولا تفتني ألا في الفتنة سقطوا وإن﴾ [التوبَة: 49]
| Dr Kamal Omar And amongst them is that who says: “Grant me permission (to stay away from Qital) and do not put me to test.” Have they not (already) fallen into trial (and have failed in the test)? And Verily, Hell is surely all-surveillant for the disbelievers |
| Dr Laleh Bakhtiar Among them is he who says: Give me permission and tempt me not. But they descended into dissension. And, truly, hell is that which encloses the ones who are ungrateful |

| Maududi And among them is he who says: "Grant me leave to stay behind, and do not expose me to temptation." Lo! They have already fallen into temptation. Surely Hell encompasses the unbelievers |
