وَالْفَجْرِ (1) By the dawn |
وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ (2) And by the ten nights |
وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ (3) And by the even and the odd |
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ (4) And by the night when it departs |
هَلْ فِي ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِي حِجْرٍ (5) Is there (not) in them sufficient proofs for men of understanding |
أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ (6) Saw you not how your Lord dealt with `Ad |
إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ (7) Iram of the pillars |
الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ (8) The like of which were not created in the land |
وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ (9) And Thamud, who hewed out rocks in the valley |
وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ (10) And Fir`awn with Al-Awtad |
الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ (11) Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands |
فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ (12) And made therein much mischief |
فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ (13) So, your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment |
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ (14) Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful |
فَأَمَّا الْإِنسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ (15) As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honor and bounties, then he says: "My Lord has honored me |
وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ (16) But when He tries him by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me |
كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ (17) But no! But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity |
وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ (18) And urge not one another on the feeding of the Miskin |
وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا (19) And you devour the Turath -- devouring with greed |
وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا (20) And you love wealth with love Jamma |
كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا (21) Nay! When the earth is flatened, Dakkan Dakka |
وَجَاءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا (22) And your Lord comes with the angels in rows |
وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنسَانُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ الذِّكْرَىٰ (23) And Hell will be brought near that Day. On that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance avail him |
يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي (24) He will say: "Alas! Would that I had sent forth for my life |
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ (25) So on that Day none will punish as He will punish |
وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ (26) And none will bind as He will bind |
يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ (27) O tranquil soul |
ارْجِعِي إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً (28) Come back to your Lord, -- well-pleased and well-pleasing |
فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي (29) Enter then among My servants |
وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي (30) And enter My Paradise |
