إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ (1)
When the Waqi`ah occurs |
لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ (2)
There is not, for its occurrence, Kadhibah |
خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ (3)
Bringing low (some), exalting (others) |
إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا (4)
When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake |
وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّا (5)
And the mountains will be powdered to dust |
فَكَانَتْ هَبَاءً مُّنبَثًّا (6)
So that they will become floating dust particles |
وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً (7)
And you (all) will be in three groups |
فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ (8)
So those on the right -- how (fortunate) will be those on the right |
وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ (9)
And those on the left -- how (unfortunate) will be those on the left |
وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ (10)
And those foremost will be foremost |
أُولَٰئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ (11)
These will be the nearest (to Allah) |
فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ (12)
In the Gardens of Delight |
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ (13)
A multitude of those will be from the first ones |
وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ الْآخِرِينَ (14)
And a few of those will be from the later ones |
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ (15)
(They will be) on thrones, Mawdunah |
مُّتَّكِئِينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَابِلِينَ (16)
Reclining thereon, face to face |
يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ (17)
Immortal boys will go around them (serving) |
بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ (18)
With cups, and jugs, and a glass of flowing wine |
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ (19)
Wherefrom neither Yusadda`un nor Yunzifun |
وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ (20)
And with fruit that they may choose |
وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ (21)
And with the flesh of fowls that they desire |
وَحُورٌ عِينٌ (22)
And (there will be) Hur with wide lovely eyes |
كَأَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُونِ (23)
Like preserved pearls |
جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ (24)
A reward for what they used to do |
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا (25)
No Laghw (evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech |
إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَامًا سَلَامًا (26)
But only the saying of: "Salaman! Salaman |
وَأَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ (27)
And those on the right -- how (fortunate) will be those on the right |
فِي سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ (28)
(They will be) among Sidri Makhdud |
وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ (29)
And among Talh Mandud |
وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ (30)
And in shade Mamdud |
وَمَاءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ (31)
And by water flowing constantly |
وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ (32)
And fruit in plenty |
لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ (33)
Whose supply is not cut off nor are they out of reach |
وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ (34)
And on couches, raised high |
إِنَّا أَنشَأْنَاهُنَّ إِنشَاءً (35)
Verily, We have created them a special creation |
فَجَعَلْنَاهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا (36)
And made them virgins |
عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا (37)
Urub, Atrab |
لِّأَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ (38)
For those on the right |
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ (39)
A multitude of those will be from the first generation |
وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ الْآخِرِينَ (40)
And a multitude of those will be from the later generations |
وَأَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ (41)
And those on the left How will be those on the left |
فِي سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ (42)
In Samum, and Hamim |
وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ (43)
And a shadow from Yahmum |
لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ (44)
Neither Barid nor Karim |
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ (45)
Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury |
وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى الْحِنثِ الْعَظِيمِ (46)
And were persisting in great sin |
وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ (47)
And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected |
أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ (48)
And also our forefathers |
قُلْ إِنَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ (49)
Say: "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times |
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ (50)
All will surely be gathered together for appointed meeting of a known Day |
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ (51)
Then verily, --- you the erring -- ones, the deniers |
لَآكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ (52)
You verily, will eat of the trees of Zaqqum |
فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ (53)
Then you will fill your bellies therewith |
فَشَارِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ (54)
And drink the Hamim on top of it |
فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ (55)
And you will drink (that) like Al-Him |
هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ (56)
That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense |
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ (57)
We created you, then why do you believe not |
أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ (58)
Do you not see the semen you emit |
أَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْخَالِقُونَ (59)
Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator |
نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ (60)
We have decreed death to you all, and We are not outstripped |
عَلَىٰ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ (61)
To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not |
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ (62)
And indeed, you have already known the first form of creation, why then do you not remember |
أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ (63)
Do you not see what you sow |
أَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ (64)
Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower |
لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَاهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ (65)
Were it Our will, We could crumble it to dry pieces, and you would be Tafakkahun |
إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ (66)
(Saying:) "We are indeed Mughramun |
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ (67)
Nay, but we are deprived |
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ (68)
Do you not see the water that you drink |
أَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنزِلُونَ (69)
Is it you who cause it to come down from Al-Muzn, or are We the Cause of it coming down |
لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ (70)
If We willed, We verily could make it salty; why then do you not give thanks |
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِي تُورُونَ (71)
Do you not see the fire which you kindle |
أَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَا أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنشِئُونَ (72)
Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower |
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَاعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ (73)
We have made it a Reminder, and an article of use for the Muqwin |
فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ (74)
Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great |
۞ فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ (75)
Fala! I swear by the Mawaqi` of the stars |
وَإِنَّهُ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ (76)
And verily that is indeed a great oath, if you but know |
إِنَّهُ لَقُرْآنٌ كَرِيمٌ (77)
That (this) is indeed an honorable recitation |
فِي كِتَابٍ مَّكْنُونٍ (78)
In a Book Maknun |
لَّا يَمَسُّهُ إِلَّا الْمُطَهَّرُونَ (79)
Which none touches but the pure ones |
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (80)
A revelation from the Lord of all that exists |
أَفَبِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ (81)
Is it such a talk that you are Mudhinun |
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ (82)
And you make your provision your denial |
فَلَوْلَا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ (83)
Then why do you not (intervene) when it reaches Al-Hulqum |
وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ (84)
And you at the moment are looking |
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ (85)
But We are nearer to him than you, but you see not |
فَلَوْلَا إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ (86)
Then why do you not -- if you are not Madinin |
تَرْجِعُونَهَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ (87)
Return the soul, if you are truthful |
فَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ (88)
Then, if he be of the Muqarrabin |
فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ (89)
Then Rawh, Rayhan and a Garden of Delights |
وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ (90)
And if he be of those on the right |
فَسَلَامٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ (91)
Then Salam (peace) to you from those on the right |
وَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ (92)
But if he be of the denying, the erring |
فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ (93)
Then for him is an entertainment with Hamim |
وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ (94)
And entry in Hellfire |
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِينِ (95)
Verily, this! This is an absolute truth with certainty |
فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ (96)
So, glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great |
