وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا (1)
By those [winds] sent forth in succession |
فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا (2)
those that blow violently |
وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ نَشْرًا (3)
and scatter [rainclouds] far and wide |
فَالْفَارِقَاتِ فَرْقًا (4)
And by those [angels] who bring criterion |
فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا (5)
and those who deliver revelation |
عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا (6)
leaving no excuse or giving warning – |
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَاقِعٌ (7)
what you are promised will surely come to pass |
فَإِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ (8)
So when the stars are extinguished |
وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ فُرِجَتْ (9)
and when the sky is split apart |
وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ (10)
and when the mountains are blown away |
وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ (11)
and when the messengers are summoned |
لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ (12)
until which Day has all this been postponed |
لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ (13)
Until the Day of Judgment |
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ (14)
How do you know what the Day of Judgment is |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (15)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الْأَوَّلِينَ (16)
Did We not destroy the earlier nations |
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الْآخِرِينَ (17)
Then We will do likewise to the later ones |
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ (18)
This is how We deal with the wicked |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (19)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّاءٍ مَّهِينٍ (20)
Did We not create you from a worthless fluid |
فَجَعَلْنَاهُ فِي قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ (21)
then We placed it in a secure repository |
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ (22)
for a determined period |
فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقَادِرُونَ (23)
For We determined it; How excellently We determine |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (24)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا (25)
Have We not made the earth a receptacle |
أَحْيَاءً وَأَمْوَاتًا (26)
for the living and the dead |
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ شَامِخَاتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَاكُم مَّاءً فُرَاتًا (27)
and placed therein firm towering mountains, and given you fresh water to drink |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (28)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
انطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ (29)
[They will be told,] “Proceed to that [Fire] which you used to deny |
انطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِي ثَلَاثِ شُعَبٍ (30)
Proceed to the shadow [of smoke] ascending in three columns |
لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ (31)
that provides neither shade nor protection from the flames |
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ (32)
Indeed, it [Hell] throws up sparks as big as castles |
كَأَنَّهُ جِمَالَتٌ صُفْرٌ (33)
as if they were tawny camels |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (34)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ (35)
On that Day they won’t speak |
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ (36)
nor will they be allowed to make excuses |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (37)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَاكُمْ وَالْأَوَّلِينَ (38)
[They will be told,] “This is the Day of Judgment: We have gathered you along with the earlier generations |
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ (39)
So if you have any scheme, then plot it against Me.” |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (40)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَالٍ وَعُيُونٍ (41)
Indeed, the righteous will be amid shades and springs |
وَفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ (42)
and will have whatever fruit they desire |
كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ (43)
[They will be told,] “Eat and drink joyfully, as a reward for what you used to do.” |
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ (44)
This is how We reward those who do good |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (45)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
كُلُوا وَتَمَتَّعُوا قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ (46)
“Eat and enjoy yourselves for a while; you are truly wicked.” |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (47)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ (48)
When it is said to them, “Bow [in prayer]”, they do not bow |
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (49)
Woe on that Day to the deniers |
فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ (50)
In which message after this [Qur’an] will they believe |
